The surge in both population sizes and GDP in countries throughout the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) is set to put huge demands on the power infrastructure of the region.

 

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), GCC electricity consumption is expected to reach 856TWh by 2020, requiring 100GW of additional power to be brought online over the course of the next decade or so.
