WHAT DUBAI WANTS, DUBAI GETS
Wednesday 27th November 2013 8.30pm will be a day and time in my life where I will always remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out Dubai won Expo 2020. It was that kind of moment that you could feel in your bones was going to go down in history and I was going to be able to say I was there, I was part of it! I think everyone in Dubai will most likely feels the same way about it as I did.
A day in time, which will result in 7 years of life changing innovation, technology, sustainability and opportunity that will have the power to change the world that we live in today and I for one cannot wait to see what Dubai will have in store for us!!
Below are a couple of reasons why the bid matters –
Expo 2020 will provide a unique platform for the global community to come together and explore creative and pioneering solutions to the three subthemes which have been identified as key drivers of global development: Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity.
The total investment in the infrastructures related to Expo 2020 is estimated at Dh25 billion. Some of these facilities are permanent and will be utilised for other purposes after Expo 2020.
Dubai World Expo 2020 will generate around 277 thousand new job opportunities in Dubai over the next seven years. Each new job opportunity will sustain other 50 jobs in the region.
Expo 2020 will inject €28.8 billion (more than Dh140 billion) in Dubai’s GDP.
Expo 2020 will enhance Dubai’s trade and support its tourism development strategy targeting 20 million tourists and tripling tourism contribution in the emirate’s economy by 2020.
From the environmental aspects, the design of the exhibition centre is eco-friendly. Dubai Expo 2020 target to produce 50% of the Expo’s energy requirements on site.
So let’s get to it, let’s connect our minds, connect the world and let the new era begin!
