Are you ready for some self-help?

You can do it!What, you are thinking, am I talking about!! Well before I get ahead of myself, allow me to paint the picture.

Tuesday 10th April 2012, Mall of the Emirates, Jack Canfield Seminar. Now if you are wondering, who is Jack Canfield, Google it, I only have so much space in my blog to tell you my story :).

So, Claudia, my colleague from Active PR and I are sitting down listening to Jack give his seminar. Now a little something about me – I may love ‘Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul’ but the truth is, I am not a big believer in Life Coaching, Self Help books, personally I don’t like being told how to do things, and if it isn’t working for me in the way that you say it should, I do not like to worry about it – I am a believer that everyone has their own way – and will eventually find it.

You can now start to understand my slight amazement when I find myself leaning a little bit closer to the stage in my seat – I am actually interested and amused by what Jack was going on about. I found him captivating, charismatic and engaging, yet again, he is a worldwide famous #1 motivational self-help speaker – so that doesn’t really surprise me.

Enough about that – all in all, the seminar was interesting, engaging and humorous, and I did walk away with some interesting ideas swirling around in my head and some new mind tricks I could play on my friends that would freak them out a little. J

From the many, and I mean many ‘self-help’ techniques that Jack was talking about – 1 in particular struck me as intriguing and something I thought I would try out, buy firstly sharing it in a blog to make it real and then actually initiating it into my everyday life.

Fitting jeans

Here goes nothing…

1. Think of 1 personal goal that I want to achieve

Fit back into my skinniest pair of jeans

2. Now make it an affirmation

I am proudly standing in front of my mirror, buttoning the top button, feeling very good about myself and extremely proud of the work I put into achieving this goal

3. Give yourself 5 action points you have to carry out every day

  • Drink 2 liters of water a day
  • Cut out all junk food
  • Work out 4 times a week
  • Eat at least 1 fruit or vegetable a day
  • Always go for the healthy option for dinner

4. When do you want to accomplish this goal by

10am Wednesday 23rd May 2012

5. Close your eyes and visualize yourself having achieved your goal twice a day – morning and evening

I have now officially started…all I can say is watch this space!

Oh another thing – My purpose is motivating and giving to people in the context of compassion and generosity with the determination that they can assimilate forgiveness in their lives. What’s yours? GOOGLE IT!
